May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favour

For the first time after a long week, it was finally quiet. There was no screaming and no yelling. Everything just seemed nice, for a little while. I just sat on the two bricks that I had placed on a chair. I didn't have money for something better, I wasn't born in a rich family. No one of us was. No one in my district had ever tasted the flavour of drinking soda by the fireplace, with no worries in their life. We didn't have something to live for like the ''Capitol'' did. The only thing we did was work for them, every single day. We didn't get to go with fancy closet or groomed hair like them. We were lucky by just having both of our feet covered with shoes. But they didn't care as long as we did exactly what they wanted us to.

The silence didn't last that long, a scream was recently released. The neighbours just lost one of their kids again. Every year they lose a family member because of the food shortage. Everyone wants to help them, but when we almost don't have food for our self it is difficult.

I get up from my ''chair'' and go for a walk. Sometimes I just want to do something about it. I want to start some kind of revolution. Just to get democracy. I don't think that people should live the way we do now, but I don't think that I can do much about it either. It isn't just about living poor and working all day. But they also invented something called ''The Hunger Games''. It's like a killing game, two kids from every district get chosen to fight for their life just for capitols entertainment.

While I was thinking, I came up with a plan. What if we escape? What if everyone just didn't care more and stopped doing all the capitol wanted us to do? Why don't we kill snow? The only problem was that they had much better guns and defends we couldn't fight against. It was impossible, we have nothing to protect us with. And if we just kill snow, they would kill us and then put another person in the lead. So no matter what we did it wouldn't work... There was only one way out, escape.

I went home to pack my things. Then I talked with my family about escaping, they agreed. We also went to our neighbours and friends to ask if they wanted to come with us. Some said yes and some were too afraid. We met up in the woods and talked about the plan. We all were scared, but we knew that we couldn't continue living like this. We went through the forest and past the lake. No one from the capital had found out that we were gone yet, we had to use the time well. For sooner or later they would find out, and we needed to be long gone by that time.
